Encyclopaedia Britannica has been a leading reference publisher since 1768. European Library

European Library publishing began in 1961. A large part of the publisher's list consists of local historical publications. One of the their most famous publications is undoubtedly the series 'in old picture postcards' started in 1966. It consists of more than 5,200 booklets . This series gives the reader the impression of what a particular town, region or village was like in the years around the turn of the century up until the Sceond World War. Picture postcards and old photos were chosen as a starting point to illustrate daily life in the olden days.
